Veteran Property Tax Exemption — Idaho

Idaho does not exempt your home from property tax. It grants qualifying 100% disabled veterans a fixed reduction — up to roughly $1,500 — on property tax for the home and up to one acre, through the Property Tax Reduction program.

Who qualifies
Homeowner veterans with a 100% service-connected disability rating (or paid at the 100% rate for individual unemployability), who occupy the home as their primary residence. The general Property Tax Reduction (circuit breaker) program separately covers people 65+, widowed, and disabled by other standards
Benefit
A reduction of up to the program maximum (about $1,500) on property taxes for the home and up to one acre of land — income limits apply; the maximum adjusts
How to apply
Apply with your county assessor between January 1 and April 15 each year — the veteran benefit application is separate from the general circuit-breaker claim
Watch out
Because it's a fixed-dollar reduction, it doesn't grow with your home's value; reapply annually with current VA documentation

Every one of these programs hinges on a VA service-connected rating. If you have not filed a claim, that is the starting point — a free, VA-accredited VSO (DAV, American Legion, VFW) will file it for you at no cost. A higher rating unlocks not just property-tax relief but healthcare, income benefits, and — for business owners — SDVOSB contracting eligibility.
